Referrals to specialists are always made when it is indicated for your optimal treatment.
Cosmetic Dentistry: Is the field of dentistry that
combines many areas of dentistry to improve the appearance of your teeth, including:
braces for straightening, porcelain veneers, porcelain crowns, whitening teeth, white
fillings (for cavities or to replace silver fillings that have stained
your teeth).
Porcelain Crowns (or caps): Are placed over the entire exposed
surface of the tooth. The porcelain is much improved so that today we can much better
match the color shade for the tooth. Crowns can dramatically change the appearance
of your teeth, if that is the desired effect. On the back teeth, gold crowns blend
in very well and are much more durable. Most all crowns require two visits, where
a temporary crown is on the tooth between appointments.
Porcelain Veneers: Are thin porcelain facings that fit on
the front surface of the front teeth. They are used to change the color or shape or
aesthetics of the front teeth. They are cemented directly on the front surface of
the tooth.
Braces for Overbites, Under-Bites, Deep-Bites, Big Gaps, Crooked
Teeth and Misaligned Teeth: Braces can be used to correct and straighten your
teeth. There are no age limits; if you have always wanted your teeth straightened,
that gap closed, now is the time.
White Fillings: White fillings blend with the tooth color
and become "invisible". White fillings actually bond to the tooth so they
can be smaller, which saves tooth structure with less tooth sensitivity.
Whitening Teeth:If you want a whiter smile, then there are
two whitening methods that we provided, both are more effective than what you can
buy in the store.
- 1st are the custom made whitening trays, custom fit to your teeth so there is
less irritation for the gums. These trays come with a take home whitening kit, which
provides the best whitening.
- 2nd Whitening Strips, these are a little slower and do not seem to get as white
of a result as the custom trays.
Implants: Are used to replace a missing tooth's root structure
in the jaw. This allows for the replacement of the tooth so that it appears natural,
like a real tooth has miraculously grown to fill the gap.
Bridges: Are also used to replace missing teeth, by attaching
a replacement tooth to crowns on the adjacent teeth. This also is very aesthetic and
natural in appearance.
Root Canal Treatment: When a cavity is big enough to have
infected the tooth, there are only two ways to get rid of the infection. The first
way is to clean the infection out of the inside of the tooth, disinfect the inside
and then put a filling inside the tooth - that is a root canal. The Second way to
get rid of the infection is to pull the tooth out.
Extraction: It is and should be the treatment of last resort.
Necessary when the tooth is broken down so much it can't or shouldn't be saved. Taking
a tooth out always creates the problem of, "What do I do with the gap?"
This is where some of the replacement treatments become important.
Partial Dentures and Full Dentures: These are used to replace
several (or all) of the teeth with a removable appliance. Twenty-five years ago, half
of the people over 50 years old had either a partial or a complete denture(s). Today,
people are entering their retirement years with most of their own teeth, with their
missing teeth replaced with something permanent like a bridge or an implant. When
they are necessary though, dentures can be greatly improved with the use of implants
to stabilize them, especially lower dentures.
